Celebrating Maya Angelou's 96th Birthday!

Celebrate! Maya Project

10–Year Anniversary

2024 marks 10 years since the death of Dr. Maya Angelou, and 10 years since a small group of Arkansas women came together to create a “Day of Remembrance,” in honor of Dr. Angelou’s life, and in Stamps, Arkansas—her childhood home. This year, Celebrate! Maya Project is celebrating its 10-year anniversary as well as its annual celebration of Dr. Angelou’s  birthday in April.

Who we are

The Celebrate! We seek partnerships with Arkansas schools, communities, and nonprofit organizations to help bring this legend to life.

We're asking for your support with our Capital Campaign

We are asking for your help in supporting our capital campaign so we can renovate a place for the Celebrate! Maya Project to call home. With this space, we will increase our outreach to youth and contributions to the community.

Arkansas’ very own Writeous Poets, a youth writing, poetry and spoken word group participated in our 2017 Writing and History Immersion Workshop during the 60th Anniversary of the Central High School Integration.
