Congratulations to our 2021 Lakeside High School Maya Scholars
Kadarrian Phifer, of Lake Village, plans to attend the University of Arkansas at Monticello in Fall 2021. He says, “I have been wheelchair-bound for six years and six months, but I’ve learned to live being in a wheelchair, and have family and friends that support me.” His dream is to become a police officer to help protect people, and the communities. His hobbies are singing and drawing. He has also acted in school plays. His quote about life is “always live life to the fullest, and always try your very best.”
Taylor Sykes, of Lake Village, is a member of the Mighty Marching Force Band, as a majorette and a member of the Lakeside Track and Field team. She also worked with the Pee Wee football program. She says her favorite subject is Spanish and loves dance and doing hair. Taylor is attending the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

Ny’tazia Madison, of Lewisville, AR is planning to attend Texarkana College to be a pharmacist technician. In high school, she enjoyed basketball, track, volleyball, and the Black Student Union Club. Her community services included Homeless Services through her church, Volleyball camp for elementary students and Vacation Bible School volunteer.
Sakayla Williams, also of Lewisville, is the first recipient of the Maya Angelou-Don and Audrey Evans Scholarship. She is planning to attend the University of Arkansas-Hope, for nursing. She participated in Band for four years of high school and played basketball. She participated in her class public service project collecting canned goods for the homeless.
